Those of you working on your DDIG proposals may find this particularly timely, but it should be of general interest too. You may want to bookmark these for later.
We wanted to point out that the Directorate for Biological Sciences has guidance for PIs on preparing the Data Management Plan required for almost all submissions to NSF (preliminary proposals being a big local exception here in DEB). The guidance is available here: http://www.nsf.gov/bio/pubs/BIODMP061511.pdf
At ESA this year we also learned about DMPTool (https://dmp.cdlib.org/). It was developed by a team of librarians to help PIs with Data Management Plans.
Also, believe it or not, there is a repository of data repositories. A sort of meta-repository: http://databib.org/
Sharing best practices is definitely encouraged here and we hope these links might help a bit too.
